Dave Aftandilian Truly lovely dungeon synth / dark ambient meditations on nature, the gods, and the fickle fates to which we are all subject.

Gabriel Tamas

Gabriel Tamas A peculiar, yet brilliant mix between DS and dark folk. This album (and this project in intself) deserve much more attention than it gets. Escapism at its finest is easily achieved on this record, through synth passages, acoustic segments and some vocals both by the artist and Helm from Empyrium. If by some great misfortune Empyrium ever dissolved, I can wholeheartedly say that Helm would be an amazing match for Tir. Hope to hear more of this in the future Favorite track: Song Of The Rain.

When I cry the hills laugh; When I humble myself the flowers rejoice; When I bow, all things are elated. The field and the cloud are lovers And between them I am a messenger of mercy. I quench the thirst of one; I cure the ailment of the other. The voice of thunder declares my arrival; The rainbow announces my departure. I am like earthly life, which begins at The feet of the mad elements and ends Under the upraised wings of death. I am the sigh of the sea; The laughter of the field; The tears of heaven.

I am here, Father you have called me  and I am here Here where my roots are  in the land beneath the mountains  in the dark woodlands down by the river Where the graves are  of the noblemen of my tribe and of its wise women Where your wind talks to the trees  and carries your ravens to the mountains  where the last of the Old Ones live I am here, Father take possession of my heritage and I step into the line of my ancestors A wanderer I am, just like you driven by the longing for insight I chase through the worlds The fire of my yearning for wisdom  burns my fetters and I rise  your raven eye is with me I am here, Odin you have called me I follow the way that you reveal to me.

Nameless creatures ascend from silken fog. The sounds of whispering night meet your ear, Implanting incomprehensible riddles in your mind. The mystery of what has not yet transpired flees from the blade of early morning’s light. Memory remains as a shadow.

about

After a promising debut recording in 2016, Turkish horde Tir returns three years later with a new offering entitled “Urd, Skuld & Verdandi”, an 11-track ordeal of what one could describe as classic Dungeon Synth, utterly atmospheric and evocative. Drinking from the ancient fountain led by entities such as Burzum and Mortiis, Tir portray a shadowy landscape filled with visions of mystery, an aura that embraces the cryptic and the arcane. Ethereal keyboard passages are intertwined with Folk overtones expressing the darkness and gloom of a long-forgotten past, a piercing and poignant musical and visual display.

Out on Repose Records on limited cassette and Digipak CD edition, “Urd, Skuld & Verdandi” stands as a full-on experience of powerful patterns of nature and nostalgia that will certainly take the listener on a startling journey through the unknown and beyond...
